Kickstand for the Thorn

Since buying the Thorn Nomad, I didn't put a kickstand. As long as i was willing to use the Click-Stand or was willing to lean it against a wall or a tree or a fence, parking the bike was no biggie.

However, if i had my cargo trailer attached to the Thorn, it wasn't always easy parking the bike, by leaning it against a stationary object. For instance, it was always tricky loading the trailer without the bike falling.

So, after lunch contemplation, I put an Esge center kickstand on the Thorn Nomad.

Since then shopping has been a breeze on the Thorn with the trailer attached.

Now, I need to find a way to pay for "all" the shopping I do!

Paz :)

  1. That's a nice set of wheels!
Is that stand very stable? It's so difficult to get a bike stand that actually keeps the bike upright. My Xtracycle stand is good but I think it also has a lot to do with the location on the longer than usual wheel base.

  2. I have a similar centre stand on my touring bike...very stable. The heavier the load the more stable it seems....

    1. Hi Trevor:
      Thanks for stopping by.
Yes, these stands are very useful, especially on a touring bicycle.
      Peace :)

  3. Hi David:

The stand is very stable. When you buy it, its legs of the stand may be longer than what one might need/desire and some do cut it down to the "right" size. I did cut the length down, with the stand I have on my CoMotion bike, but I think not cutting is okay as well. Not cutting the length down permits you to repair minor problems on the rear wheel without having to mount the bike on a stand.
    Peace :)
